IRS Airlines is the Nigerian airlines based in Abuja. It operates scheduled domestic passenger services. Its main base is Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
IRS Airlines Ltd, a privately owned Part 121 Nigerian domestic operator, commenced operation in 2001 with two superbly refurbished B727-200 passenger aircraft. The aircraft were acquired from American Airlines and are of the last of the B727 200 aircraft to be delivered to American Airlines by Boeing Commercial Aircraft.
The Nigerian government set a deadline of April 30, 2007 for all airlines operating in the country to re-capitalise or be grounded, in an effort to ensure better services and safety. The airline satisfied the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA)’s criteria in terms of re-capitalization and was re-registered for operation.Destinations
As of March 2007, IRS operates domestic scheduled destinations services to Abuja, Kano, Lagos, Maiduguri.
