Mihin Lanka is a low-cost airline based in Colombo, Sri Lanka. It is a fully owned and funded enterprise of the Sri Lankan government. Its main focus is providing low cost flights from Colombo to Dubai and a number of cities in India. Launched in 2007, Mihin Lanka currently uses Bandaranaike International Airport as its hub, but it will most likely move to the Weerawila International Airport, which is currently under construction.[citation needed] Since beginning operations, the airline has developed a reputation for poor service and delays.

The airline was established in December 2006 and was created by the Sri Lankan government to operate services to India and the Middle East.
On 6 January 2008, flight MJ401 from Colombo to Dubai was forced to issue a Mayday call and perform an emergency landing in Mumbai after the engines developed a severe oil leak. Passengers reported that prior to this the plane had been shuddering violently. By the time it landed, only one engine was operational. Passengers were informed that the incident was due to the plane leaving Colombo without a vital component in its engines.
It has been reported that the company has stopped flying in May 2008 after having all its aircraft repossessed for failure to meet lease payments. According to JustPlanes website, the airline stopped flying on 3 May 2008. Website still operational, but has not been updated since early May.
